Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
About Our School
MNC Dance Festival
Our school was proud to participate in the MNC Dance Festival, where our students not only performed but were also chosen to MC the night. This exciting event provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their talents, both in the creative arts and in public speaking. It was a memorable evening that celebrated their hard work, confidence, and enthusiasm, highlighting the diverse skills and vibrant spirit of our school community.
How our Mascot was made
Our school mascot, proudly designed by one of our own students through an exciting competition, is called Dunggiirr, which is Gumbaynggirr for Koala. The competition invited the entire student body to create a mascot that best represents our school's spirit and values. Our school is part of a protected koala habitat, and students actively work with our local Landcare group to protect and learn about their environment. This initiative encourages creativity, teamwork, and school pride, allowing students to share their unique ideas and contribute to our school's identity. The chosen design embodies the qualities and characteristics that resonate with our community, making Dunggiirr a meaningful symbol that inspires and unites us all.
My kiddos go to Gillwinga Public School and we really like it. It's a small school so has that little community feel. The teachers are lovely and kids are not just a number (we've had that vibe from previous schools). Also, if kids are additional needs it's a great option. — a parent of Gillwinga Public School
